Unidentified pieces drive me crazy!
I have two unidentified Anthropologie pieces that are currently driving me crazy because I can't find their names in any of my google searches- no matter how creative I get. Anyone out there recognize them?
First is a Floreat blouse: Cotton, cotton embroidery. Fitted waist, surplice neckline. Nice deep orange embroidery. All over pattern on the material. Some bead work.

The second I really really thought it would be easy to hunt down but with Odille's current sailboat skirt throwing a wrench into the search, I'm coming up with nothing except that skirt. This one is also by Odille, but it's obviously not the current one :)
Any help would be soo appreciated!

Wishes
So I realized today that I had two songs stuck in my head, neither one of them recent and neither one of them immediately related until I actually paid attention to them. Once I did, I started laughing..... One is wistful and lovely...the other is rather groovy in sound but comical really. Both shaped my young adulthood in some form or another. Strange isn't it that they're both crowding my brain today?

"I wish I was a neutron bomb, for once I could go off.
I wish I was a sacrifice but somehow still lived on.
I wish I was a sentimental ornament you hung on
The christmas tree, I wish I was the star that went on top,
I wish I was the evidence
I wish I was the sun for fifty million hands upraised, and opened toward the sky.
I wish I was a sailor with someone who waited for me.
I wish I was as fortunate, as fortunate as me.
I wish I was a messenger, and all the news was good.
I wish I was the full moon shining off a camaro's hood.
I wish I was an alien, at home behind the sun,
I wish I was the souvenir you kept your house key on.
I wish I was the pedal break that you depended on.
I wish I was the verb "to trust", and never let you down.
I wish I was a radio song, the one that you could turned up,
I wish, I wish, I wish, I wish,
I guess it never stops."

Hey, this is radio station W-S-K-E-E
We're takin' calls on the wish line
Making all your wacky wishes come true
Hello
1-I wish I was little bit taller,
I wish I was a baller,
I wish I had a girl who looked good
I would call her
I wish I had a rabbit in a hat with a bat
and a 64' Impala
I wish I was like six-foot-nine
So I can get with Leoshi
Cause she don't know me but yo she's really fine
You know I see her all the time
Everywhere I go, and even in my dreams
I can scheme a way to make her mine
Cause I know she's livin phat
Her boyfriend's tall and he plays ball
So how am I gonna compete with that
'Cause when it comes to playing basketball
I'm always last to be picked
And in some cases never picked at all
So I just lean up on the wall
Or sit up in the bleachers with the rest of the girls
Who came to watch their men ball
Dag y'all! I never understood, black
Why the jocks get the fly girls
And me I get the hood rats
I tell 'em scat, skittle, scabobble
Got hit with a bottle
And I been in the hospital
For talkin' that mess
I confess it's a shame when you livin' in a city
That's the size of a box and nobody knows yo' name
Glad I came to my senses
Like quick-quick got sick-sick to my stomach
Overcommeth by the thoughts of me and her together
Right?
So when I asked her out she said I wasn't her type
(rpt 1, 1)
I wish I had a brand-new car
So far, I got this hatchback
And everywhere I go, yo I gets laughed at
And when I'm in my car I'm laid back
I got an 8-track and a spare tire in the backseat
But that's flat
And do you really wanna know what's really whack
See I can't even get a date
So, what do you think of that?
I heard that prom night is a bomb night
With the hood rats you can hold tight
But really tho' I 'm a figaro
When I'm in my car I can't even get a hello
Well so many people wanna cruise Crenshaw on Sunday
Well then I'ma have to get in my car and go
You know I take the 110 until the 105
Get off at Crenshaw tell my homies look alive
Cause it's hard to survive when your livin'
In a concrete jungle and
These girls just keep passin' me by
She looks fly, she looks fly
Makes me say my, my, my
(rpt 1, 1)
I wish I was a little bit taller...
I wish I was a baller...
I wish I was a little bit taller y'all
I wish I was a baller (3)
Hey, I wish I had my way
'Cause everyday would be a Friday
You could even speed on the highway
I would play ghetto games
Name my kids ghetto names
Little Mookie, big Al, Lorraine
Yo you know that's on the real
So if you're down on your luck
Then you should know just how I feel
Cause if you don't want me around
See I go simple, I go easy, I go greyhound
Hey, you , what's that sound?
Everybody look what's going down
Ahhhh, yes, ain't that fresh?
Everybody wants to get down like dat
(rpt 1, 1)
I wish, I wish, I wish..."

First Day of Class
Thanks to my hubby, I got a picture of my outfit yesterday. Although not technically my first first day of class (that was Monday night), Tuesday felt more official somehow. And my outfit deserved to be recorded. Thanks hon!
Today I get to sample my third and final class for this semester- after I put in 5 hours volunteering. Somehow nothing makes volunteering to clean up after birds seem more exhausting than the prospect of ending the day with four hours of class.

Weekend denim shopping
as happens often when out shopping with the hubby, I ran across some fantastic denim this past weekend. Mother's Day apparently means finding flattering fits! I wanted to make sure to take note of what cuts and brands I liked the most mostly for myself so I can refer back to them at a later point if need be- or so he can find them back as well ;)
This weekend it was all about two brands. So, to keep it simple, I'll start with one and then go to the other.
I went back and visited an old friend so to speak. I think my very first premium denim jeans were by 7 for all mankind around 10 years ago....as is the case for many others out there I'm sure. Unfortunately, due to weight gain over the years, and just changing body type (hello motherhood!), I've had frustrating fit issues with them for some time, except for my trusty Dojos. This weekend I finally had a breakthrough of sorts. My goal was to find an orginal bootcut that fit- but for some reason NYD is not a winner anymore for me. So, that was a strikeout. HOWEVER, I did find a winner in the skinny bootcut in Malibu Sands. Soft, stretchy, nice fit.... little bit of a kick on the hem, but closer to a straight leg than a boot cut, just the way I like my jeans to be honest. Only thing that threw me was the lack of a squiggle, but the more I think about that, the less it bothers me.

I also had the opportunity to try on the high waist orginal bootcut- in both rinse and I believe Los Angeles Dark. Rinse was super stretchy and since it was so dark, super slimming. LADK was not as comfortable, but wearable. High Waist Bootcut in Rinse High Waist Bootcut in Los Angeles Dark
As well as 7, I also tried AG jeans for the first time. After all the jeans I have tried and wear, it seems surprising that I'm just now getting around to AG but I really can't recollect ever trying them before. The washes I tried on were pretty basic, but I got a good sample of three cuts, which I appreciate.
The Stilt has the distinction of being the only premium pair of skinnies I tried on this Mother's Day. Nice fit around the waist and hips, slight looseness at the knee (which never bothers me) and standard fit to an ankle length. I suspect the ones I tried on were in the wash Isolate- linked above. I've since looked online and fallen in love with some of AG's other washes- like the 14 year
and the 5 year 2 way
I also tried on two bootcut options- one is the most prevelant of AG's women's cuts- the Angel. I have to say, it is a nice, standard bootcut. good waist fit, nice through hips and thighs, long (long enough I have to hem them, of course), nice feel to the denim. Huge variety of washes online. The other was a narrow bootcut- similar actually to the skinny bootcut I tried on by 7. Smaller kick at the bottom of the hem. This is the Ballad. The Ballad is also available in quite a variety of washes, most aimed to duplicate multiple years of wear on a typical pair of jeans.
Overall I was pleasantly surprised by my experiences in the dressing room. I like days like that!
